In practice longer than thirty years, I focus on commercial real estate, from raw land and timberlands to multifamily, office, industrial and hospitality. I represent buyers, sellers, borrowers, lenders, landlords and tenants and handle transactions “from soup to nuts.” For example, I draft, review and negotiate contracts, loan documents, conveyancing documents, and leases; review and negotiate title insurance coverages; advise in selection and formation of entities, such as limited liability companies; and coordinate closings, often as the closing agent.

This transactional experience provides a practical basis for my dispute resolution work. I represent clients in both state and federal courts, and I am licensed and registered as a neutral by the Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia and the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution. My mediation training provides additional skill and insight to help clients achieve resolution of disputes efficiently and effectively. I am also available to serve as a third-party neutral to assist disputants and their attorneys reach mutually-beneficial agreements that may not be achievable in litigation.

Out-of-state lawyers engage me as local counsel in transactions involving Georgia real property. Those matters typically require issuing legal opinions and advising on other aspects of the transactions to which Georgia law applies.

In addition to my solo practice, I am counsel with Taylor, Feil, Harper, Lumsden & Hess. This affiliation with a group of skilled, well-respected attorneys provides a breadth and depth of expertise typically unavailable to clients of a single attorney.
