Meet John

Born in Americus, Georgia, the son of a Methodist minister, I lived in the communities of New Era, Edison, Boston, Leary and Talbotton, Georgia. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Valdosta and my law degree in Athens. After graduation Lyn and I lived for a year in Conyers and then moved to metro Atlanta. My roots are Southern Coastal Plain and Southern Piedmont.

My practice consists of three parts.  The transactional work focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate acquisition, financing, development, leasing, management and disposition. Litigation engagements also concentrate on commercial real estate but necessarily expand to encompass general commercial business matters.   Special master appointments in Cobb County Superior Court require that I assist the appointing judges to determine issues such as electronically stored information (“ESI”) and title disputes.

An embryonic aspect of my practice is alternative dispute resolution.  As a neutral licensed and registered by the Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia and the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution, I help other attorneys and their clients resolve disputes productively.

I am on the board of directors of Tapestry Development Group, a nonprofit low-income housing developer, and play trombone with the Atlanta Swing Orchestra.
